The Saint Joseph College Athletic Department has been fully established as an
NCAA Division III athletic program and members of the Great Northeast Athletic
Conference (GNAC) since 1994. Since their premiere season, the Blue Jays have
won GNAC championships in volleyball, basketball, softball and tennis a total
of six times. Saint Joseph College also offers varsity programs in soccer, cross
country and lacrosse. In 2002, the Saint Joseph College athletic department
was the recipient of the USA TODAY/NCAA Foundation Academic Achievement Award
for having the highest overall percentage of graduating student-athletes among
the nation's Division III institutions.
Interested
students may choose to take part in intercollegiate team sports or intramurals
provided by the College. The Saint Joseph College athletic programs have established
themselves as regional powers since the introduction of athletics in 1993.
Saint Joseph College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). In keeping with the College’s educational and athletic mission statement, all varsity teams compete at the Division III level. Students must be in good academic standing as determined by the College and must also maintain full-time undergraduate status for eligibility on a varsity team.
The athletic department at Saint Joseph College complements students’ academic experience with a competitive physical regimen. Participation in athletics develops students’ leadership skills, strengthens their problem-solving capabilities, and allows them to maintain their physical, mental, and emotional fitness. Saint Joseph College offers varsity programs in the following sports: basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming/diving, tennis and volleyball.
Intramural sports consist of: badminton, basketball, oozeball, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball and water polo. Recreational programs include: The Fitness Challenge, The Walk Across America, aerobics, self defense and yoga, providing diverse athletic opportunities to our campus community.

Directions
to Saint Joseph College
Take exit 43 off I-84 East or West. At end of the ramp, take a right and an
immediate left onto Trout Brook Drive. Continue straight on Trout Brook Drive
until intersection of Trout Brook Drive and Asylum Avenue (UCONN will be on
opposite corner). Take a right on Asylum Avenue and left into driveway of Saint
Joseph College. Follow driveway to back of campus. The O’Connell Center
is at the back of the campus next to the track.
