Blue Jay Swimming
The 2006-2007 Swimming and Diving team finished fourth at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships. Sophomore swimmer Anne Weeks (Mystic, CT placed second in the 50 freestyle and fourth in both breaststroke events, qualifying her as All-Conference swimmer for her second collegiate conference meet. Teammate and Junior Amy Olson (South Boston, MA) finished fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle, and fifth in the 400 IM . At the championships, Olson and Weeks both led the Blue Jays to an All-Conference finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sophomore Anne Weeks led the team at the New England Championships, finaling in all three breaststroke events.

Coach Kieran Osgood looks forward to her 14th season which features nine returning swimmers and four first-year athletes. Sophomore Anne Weeks (Mystic, CT) continues to lead the Blue Jays and is seeking her second finalist bid for the New England Championships and GNAC championship gold in the breaststroke and IM events. Junior Amy Olson (South Boston, MA) returns for her senior year with a goal of qualifying for the New England Championship in the backstroke events. Senior returnee Rebecca Mitchell looks to boost her distance capabilities in the 500 and 1650- yard freestyle events. Returning swimmers Ashley Malec, JR (Windsor Locks, CT), Carrie Hess, JR (West Simsbury, CT), Deirdre Brickhouse, JR (Hartford, CT), Nora Mullanaphy, JR (Freehold, NJ) and Nicholle Cyr, SO (Tolland, CT) look to add depth to a young team. Junior diver Merin Plourd, (Farmington,CT) returns seeking her first bid to the New England Championships. Experienced newcomers, Kristine Ellegard (Rocky Hill, CT), Melanie Bush (Bristol, CT) and Sarah Wheeler(Winchendon Springs, MA) and Hannah Elflein (Windsor, CT) round out the Blue Jays for the upcoming 2007-2008 season.
